I did some spray paint testing on the paper tape last night. Paint covers it will but it scratches off fairly easily. I'm thinking that's due to the waxy outside of the tape. I got it at officemax. Is there a better one to use?

That waxy outside is new as of this year - I look to see if places still have some of the older paper outsided tape. I was wondering if we took a little light-grain sandpaper to the outside of it. That may take some of the non-stickiness off. There's been 3 different versions of the tape - they keep "improving" it, but it gets worse each time. I may have to look for a new alternative.

hands and legs

Postby btindahood on Fri Dec 28, 2007 5:05 am

ok so I'm building an optimus prime suit but i got 2 questions: for the legs, i saw you used a platform system but are they made out of cardboard because it seems lie that wouldn't be very sturdy. Also, for the fingers, did u use straps to pull the fingers or did u actually move them yourself?
also i just bought aton of LED christmas lights and im trying to find out how to hook em up to batteries

Those platforms are just cut outs that hold my legs in position. My calf goes inbetween them and there are two straps that hold it to me.
The fingers have elastic in them to get them to not flop around. The fingers move, but not too well. Check out the pictures I have of Bumblebees fingers. That hand works out so much better than the OP ones. I figured out new things with each new costume.
