How do you attach the leg pieces to the boot and to the hip piece?

well theres a few ways, for myself the leg is just real snug on my leg so it moves with me no prob, if your foot is a seperate piece, I have seen others use vercro(sp?) to hold in place seems to work well also vercro to attache to the hip it's hidden and works well, im sure their is some other ways.

connecting boot/leg piece

Postby Scott08 on Mon Oct 22, 2007 5:41 pm

What is the best way to connect the boot to the leg piece - and still have the freedom to move/walk?

I use a system of straps with velcro tabs at the end, that way you can still detach the piece for transport and storage. I'll staple and hot glue one end of the elastic strap inside the upper piece (in the hips for the thighs, calves for the feet). Then I will staple sticky velcro to the ends of the straps with velcro on the inside of the other piece. If it's going to be a long night, I'll throw some black duct tape over the connection (I always bring that with me when I go out. It fixes so much!).
If you have robot wranglers, make sure to run through how stuff is attached - it makes it a lot easier.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am building a bumblebee and an optimus prime for my two boys. I am just about finished. I have to do the helmets and finishing touches. I have another son who I want to build one for, but I need to be finished by tomorrow!

I seem to be using the straps with the velcro tabs at the bottom the most
